Pick File | New, choose Other and &quot;Configuration Settings File&quot;, this gets you a new .xcconfig file.

Then click on the project on the upper left in the file browser (the same place where you get to build settings), click on the project again in the second-to-left panel, and click on the Info tab at the top of the inner panel.

There, you can choose &quot;Based on Configuration File&quot; for each of your targets for each of your configurations (debug, release, etc.)

There are no other way, I search a lot. In XCode 3 this is easy, but now..

In the screen above, I have the **Build Configuration**, so I can chose if I want:

 - Debug
 - Release

I have a problem with NaN values in CGFloat, how can I check if the number is valid?

the only way so far that works is:

which is not a nice solution at all! :) ... and I am pretty sure that there is something else I should do instead.

How can I set the icon for a Mac Application in Xcode?

I have an issue with Xcode 4 really responding very slowly to user interactions, e.g. editing code, scrolling areas etc. This particularly happens with larger scale projects with many controllers/view files etc.

I completely wiped the hard disk and re-installed Snow Leopard and Xcode the other week but steadily it ground to a frustrating response time again (over a number of days) disrupting workflow considerably.

I have also on occasion removed the project&#39;s &quot;derived data&quot; via the Organiser -&gt; Projects and this has had little effect.

I&#39;m wondering if there is anything I can do to improve performance other than get a higher specced machine in the first instance.

FYI I&#39;m running MacBook with Intel Core 2 Duo processors at 2GHz and 4GB of RAM.

In case we need to upgrade I&#39;d also like to know if people are experiencing this poor performance from Xcode 4 on well specced machines (which would make our hardware upgrade rather pointless as it&#39;s only Xcode that has any performance issue on the MacBook).

If anybody has any suggestions or recommendations or could even let us know how improved hardware effects Xcode&#39;s performance on larger project trees then that would be extremely helpful and also a valuable resource for other devs in a similar position.

Xcode 4 - slow performance

I am quite new to xcode and objective-c. I want to ask a very basic question.

I saw that when &quot;linking binary to libraries&quot; in project settings, there are differences about framework and libraries, imported from other projects in workspace.

First question, why is there a framework? And why is there a library? Cannot my library be a framework?

And then, from a *.h* file, how can I call classes from my imported static library?

I suppose there must be a prefix, but I couldn&#39;t find it.
Neither &lt;ProjName/Myclass.h&gt; nor &quot;ProjName/Myclass.h&quot; are working.

Please, be as specific as you can.

I like organizing my classes into groups, in the Xcode 4 project navigator pane. I also use GIT versioning via the terminal, which works better for me than the Xcode 4 integration. To me it makes the most sense when the groups I create in Xcode correspond to real folders on my file system. 

However, Xcode seems to not care about where a file (e.g. Objective-C .h/.m file) is on the filesystem, and every time you add a group (`Option+Command+N`) it&#39;s purely cosmetic, for any files you put in there will share the same location on your hard drive as the rest.

The weird thing is, that if you first create a folder on your hard drive, and then drag it to Xcode, you have created a group with its own location on your file system. Every file you create in there will be created in the folder on disk. I love that, but I&#39;d love it even more if Xcode would do that for me at `Option+Command+N`. The workflow of switching to Finder for every group you want to create and then dragging it back to the right place in your project navigator is just plain silly.

It feels like something a setting would fix, but I can&#39;t find it! Is there a better way?

**Update:** When dragging a folder to Xcode, you&#39;ll get a dialog window where you can choose &quot;Folder Reference&quot;. That looks promising, however my Xcode 4 doesn&#39;t accept the files in there as classes and keeps telling me it can&#39;t find any files. Maybe the answer lies here somewhere, but I still can&#39;t find it.

**Another update:** I&#39;ve changed my main editor environment from Xcode to AppCode. The latter supports actually creating folders to back the project groups, while maintaining 100% compatibility with Xcode. Those AppCode guys sure know what they&#39;re doing.

I&#39;m working on a universal iOS app and I&#39;d like to see the raw SQL in the logs when I&#39;m debugging. There is some info [in this blog post](http://www.raywenderlich.com/934/core-data-tutorial-getting-started) about how to enable raw SQL logging for iOS Core Data development. The given example is for Xcode 3 and it&#39;s just not clear to me how to enable this in Xcode 4.

I&#39;ve tried &quot;Product&quot; -&gt; &quot;Edit Scheme&quot; and added &quot;**-com.apple.CoreData.SQLDebug 1**&quot; to &quot;Arguments Passed on Launch&quot;, but I&#39;m still not seeing any output in the logs. Xcode 4 and Core Data: How to enable SQL Debugging

I have an xcconfig file which contains a configuration for which server my app should hit. In debug mode, this will be a different server than for release builds.

The problem I have is that a URL of the form http://www.stackoverflow.com is treated as a comment after the double slash. So the string I get in code is &#39;http:&#39;

I have read that I can put a -traditional build flag on Info.plist, I was wondering if someone else has had a similar issue and has solved it?

How do I configure full URLs in xcconfig files

so I used [Venmo/Synx](https://github.com/venmo/synx) on my Xcode project with CocoaPods, and it completely screwed everything up.

I was able to fix the Manifest.lock and Podfile.lock errors, but now I am getting this error:

&gt; The file “Pods.debug.xcconfig” couldn’t be opened because there is no such file. (/Users/user/GitHub/xxxxxx/Pods/Pods/Target Support Files/Pods/Pods.debug.xcconfig)

As you can see, the path is incorrect, as there is no `Pods/Pods` directory (there is one extra pod).

How can I fix this?  I have only added `PODS_ROOT` to the user-defined variable, as that fixed my Podfile and Manifest.lock files.

Any help would be much appreciated!

After adding PODS_ROOT, I get this when running `pod install`.

    [!] The `Project [Debug]` target overrides the `PODS_ROOT` build setting defined in `Pods/Target Support Files/Pods/Pods.debug.xcconfig&#39;. This can lead to problems with the CocoaPods installation
        - Use the `$(inherited)` flag, or
        - Remove the build settings from the target.
